At first glance, this property can be deceiving. This is because, from the outside driveway you see a 2 storey villa. However, due to the inclination of the land, Chhogori actually covers 3 and a half floors. You can see this more clearly from the rear of the house.
Open the impressive entry door to the property, and you are greeted by an impressive view through the rear windows that face you, to the large outside terrace beyond and down the valley towards the sea.
Step into the voluminous entrance hall and ahead lie extremely wide side steps lead down to the main reception or living room. These steps are flanked by staircases, which lead both up to the first level, as well as down to the basement area on both sides of the house.
The main living room opens into a formal dining area. Go through the sliding doors which face you and you are on the large rear terrace. (Which was mentioned earlier and has a wonderful valley and sea view). There is an office with gallery above on the east side of the living room. On the west side and accessed by both the main dining room and the hall is a large kitchen and breakfast room which benefits from daylight and marvelous views from the south and west sides.
On the east side of the hall is a corridor that leads past the lift. The lift connects all floors. There is a guest toilet and two large bedroom suites with fitted wardrobes and bespoke bathroom tiling on this first level.
On taking the upward staircase that flanks either side of the entrance hall, you notice the impressive tall ceiling and ceiling design, and the double height windows that sit either side of the front door. You arrive on level 1. To the east of level one is bedroom suite 3. To the west is bedroom suite 2. These 2 bedrooms have ample fiitted wardrobe space, bespoke bathroom tiling as well as space for a bed and seating area. All have a wonderful view down the valley to the sea. In the middle lies the principle bedroom suite. With large walk in wardrobe and bespoke bathroom.
The downward staircases are configured such that, on the east side of the hall the stairs lead down to a large gymnasium. Here there is space for a free weights area and spinning area. Large windows let in plenty of light and offer views to the sea. A further staircase leads from the gym area down to the indoor pool area with its changing rooms, WC and massage room. Space has been allocated by the pool to house a sauna / hammam / Jacuzzi / cold dip.
On the west side of the hall the stairs lead down to doors that open to reveal a ‘snooker/games room. Leading of this room, on the north side is the cinema room. Plus a guest bathroom. Whilst on the other side you have a bar area and a comfy couch and TV area. Windows and glass doors allow for views that extend across the garden, down the valley and beyond to the sea. Leave the games room and you find yourself under a covered terrace at the rear of the house. There is an outside shower and bathroom at one side of this terrace and a storage room at the other.
Steps from the covered terrace at the rear of the games room lead down to the garden area. You are immediately impressed by the outdoor pool which sits at the foot of the steps. A large, open sided, thatched-covered pagoda, with summer kitchen sits on the east side of the pool.
El Madronal is situated in the municipality of Benahavis, province of Malaga, half-way between Malaga and Gibraltar, in the foothills of the Sierra de Ronda. It is 5 kilometers from the small village of San Pedro de Alcantara, which lies between the two well-known resorts of the Costa del Sol, Marbella and Estepona. El Madroñais situated on the road which leads inland from the coast to the spectacularly beautiful town of Ronda. El Madroñal is set in a range of mountains covered with pine forest and cork trees, with really magnificent views, not only of the Spanish coastline, but across the sea to Gibraltar and Africa.
El Madronal was originally a private estate called Monte de Alcuzcuz, owned by the Parlade family, who founded in the early 60's El Madroñal S.A. with a British Shareholding company. The total area of Madroñal is 223 hectares, one third of the estate is a green area and the other two thirds is divided into large plots including La Heredia, a residential complex of villas and townhouses, which has been built in the style of a traditional Andalusian village with cobbled streets, beautiful squares with fountains and abundance of flowers and colors
The estate is accessed via 6 entrances spread along the Ronda road, all of them gated and controlled via security cameras and security guards 24 hours a day. The property rises from 200 meters to 300 meters above sea level. The first intention of El Madroñal was to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape and to encourage the construction of independent private estates. Each plot has been carefully planned to ensure privacy for the owners and to avoid disrupting the views of neighbouring houses. Almost every plot has a view of the sea and the mountains. Originally the smallest plot was about 5.000 m2 and now is a minimum of 2.600 m2 except in Entrance 1 bordering the neighboring La Heredia, which can be up to a minimum of 600 m2.
El Madronal has a particular climate, during the summer months the mean temperature at San Pedro de Alcántara is 3 degrees below that of Malaga and during the winter months 3 degrees above. The differences in temperature are due to the high range of hills behind San Pedro de Alcántara which forms a screen from the prevailing northerly winds. The superb climate, unparalleled in Europe, is ideal for gardening, walking, swimming, sailing, riding or playing golf, with an average of 320 sunny days in a year
Although set in quiet rural surroundings El Madronal is within a few minutes drive of all amenities of the Costa del Sol with a wide choice of first class hotels, night clubs, restaurants, shops, boutiques and all other amenities one would expect in the most sophisticated resort. El Madroñal is very well situated with Marbella at 15 minutes drive, 10 minutes to the coast and Puerto Banus world famous marina, 40 minutes to the old city of Ronda, 30 minutes to Sotogrande, where international polo tournaments are played throughout the year and 45 minutes from Malaga Airport. At short driving distance to golf courses such as Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club , La Quinta Golf & Spa Resort, Marbella Club Golf Resort, Villa Padierna Gof Club, Atalaya Golf & Country Club or Club de Golf El Higueral in the municipality of Benahavis or the golf courses in the Golf Valley, Los Naranjos Golf Club, Aloha Golf Club and Real Club de Golf Las Brisas. 5 minutes down the road from El Madroñal is Monte Halcones shopping centre, including Bank, Pharmacy, Restaurants/cafés, and supermarket.
Within El Madroñal you can find a variety of properties, ranging from grand luxury properties with panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast to charming rustic homes, hidden away within the forests of the estate.
